The Effective QAD User: Navigating QAD

SCOTT DULECKI - Sungate Solutions

Scott Dulecki enjoys the Family Circus comics that show the paths taken by the children to accomplish seemingly simple tasks.  Yes, the kids do get things done, but boy howdy - they take the lo-o-o-ong way around or what? Similarly, he's watched many people take the long way around when using QAD.  It's not because they're children or easily distracted; it's because QAD is so flexible that you can often find a way to do something before finding the fastest or most effective way to do it.  That flexibility can be a blessing and a curse. In this session, Scott will show ways to get things done without reams of sticky notes, cheat sheets, and photocopied pages of chicken scratch so that you can become a more effective QAD user!

Hitting the Apex on Variances

CLIFF OMAN
Logan Consulting

For a manufacturing company to improve its profit margins, it needs to understand its manufacturing costs and how to manage and improve costs. The cause and effect of costing and manufacturing-related processes will usually cause variances. PO Price Variance, AP Usage Variance, Method Variance, and Labor Usage Variance are just a few examples. Understanding these variances really starts with understanding the meaning of each type of variance and their root causes. This session will discuss the different kinds of variances that QAD may generate, where they are generated, and how users can track down the root cause of these variances to reduce cost.
